Ethereum: Bitcoin Core extremely high syncing time

Ethereum: Bitcoin Core Extremely High Syncing Time

As a seasoned Bitcoin Core (BTC) user on a powerful gaming PC, I've encountered an issue that has been frustrating me lately. Despite my system's impressive specs, including a high-end graphics card and plenty of RAM, the syncing process seems to be lagging behind other wallets.

I've been running Bitcoin Core for months now, and it's always been one of the fastest syncing wallets on my list. However, in recent days, I've noticed that the sync times have increased significantly. While I can manually set the wallet to sync every 5 minutes, some wallets are taking as long as 30 minutes or more to complete their full sync.

My System Specifications

Ethereum: Bitcoin Core extremely high syncing time

To give you a better idea of what my system looks like, here are its specs:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (3.7GHz quad-core)

  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti (4GB GDDR6)

*RAM: 16 GB DDR4 (3200 MHz)

Internet Download Speed

Before diving into the syncing issue, I want to note that my internet download speed is an impressive 115 Mbps via a wired connection.

The Syncing Issue

As you can imagine, this high-syncing time has been causing me frustration. I've tried restarting Bitcoin Core and the wallet settings, as well as checking for any software updates or conflicts with other programs. However, no solution seems to have worked so far.

Research and Comparison

To better understand what's going on, I conducted some research and comparisons between different wallets and syncing times. The results are:

  • My synced wallet using Bitcoin Core has an average sync time of around 15-20 minutes.

  • Most other wallets in my list, including those from Coinbase, Kraken, and Electrum, have much shorter sync times, ranging from 1-5 minutes.

Possible Causes

After some digging, I've identified a few possible causes for the high-syncing time:

  • Network congestion: My internet connection is not particularly congested, but it's possible that other users are also experiencing issues.

  • Wallet configuration

: Bitcoin Core has a default setting that can slow down syncing times, especially when using multiple GPUs.

  • Cache and indexing issues: Some wallets may experience cache or indexing issues, which can cause delays during the sync process.

Conclusion

While my system's specs seem to be in line with other high-end gaming PCs, the syncing issue has been a frustrating headache. I'm not sure what's causing the delay, but I've tried adjusting various settings and configurations to see if that resolves the issue.

If you're experiencing similar syncing issues on your system, it may be worth investigating these possible causes and experimenting with different configurations to find a solution.
